I am a painter. I bow to the thousands of painters from the past whose work has left traceable evidence of human existence, intelligence, emotion, reverence, visual poetry and wonder for those of us who are presently alive and those who will someday be alive to ponder.
I have explored many traditional approaches to the art of painting... the Egyptian Fayum encaustic paintings; egg tempera masterpieces of pre-Renaissance Italy; the multi-layered oil glazing techniques developed by Venetian painters of the 15th century...yet I have been awed no less by the bold experimentation of many 19th and 20th century painters that continues today.
I hope that the marks I make on my canvases at least bear witness to the truth that the world I am briefly blessed to be a part of is a place of immeasurable beauty.
My personal language is unavoidably evolving on this endless artistic journey. Here I share the "footnotes", the small paintings that appear along the way.
